FIT LAB 02:
“The first mountaineering boot to use The Boa System, you can modulate the tension of the closure in two different zones. Many times you need to have more space in the footprint, and to be very closed on the upper. This allows you to be more technical on vertical, steep faces.”
— Simone Moro, Men’s Extreme Alpinist
A collaboration of the most extreme kind.
When you’re talking about temperatures of below 40 degrees and elevations of above 8,000 meters, your life depends on your gear. Our partnership with La Sportiva in developing the G2 SM was one of the most challenging — and one of the most rewarding — because we knew how important it was to advancing the entire category of mountaineering. Through technology and a “never settle” mindset, we were able to help empower the world’s most extreme and dedicated athletes to push beyond what was previously possible.
TECHNOLOGY PUT TO THE TEST.
La Sportiva worked with extreme alpinist Simone Moro to help develop a mountaineering boot built to withstand the brutally cold winter ascents that Moro is known for. Embedded with innovative and highly technical materials both inside and out, we knew The Boa System was part of a best in class product intended for the most relentless climbs. We had an important role to play and we weren’t going to disappoint.
The dual Boa System securely closes the critical inner layer of the G2 SM. Designed so you can cinch it down tight without exposing your bare hands to the bitter temperatures, this zonal solution provides extremely personalized adjustment of the liner for the various requirements during high-alpine ascents. Additionally, the pull up for quick release interface lets you get your boots on and off fast, as every second is crucial in such harsh environments. The Boa System is protected by abrasion-resistant Cordura® on the outer shell, and The Honeycomb Tech and carbon midsole reduces weight and volume to a minimum.
