FACES TOR DES GÉANTS
The TOR des Géants is more than a race – it’s a confrontation with limits, doubt, and inner strength. In the heart of the Aosta Valley, BOA® Athlete Florian Grasel faced one of the toughest endurance challenges on Earth, turning preparation, courage, and resilience into a defining ultra‑running journey. TOR is a brutal endurance race of 330 kilometers and 24,000 meters of elevation gain, circling the magnificent landscapes of the Aosta Valley.
Florian Grasel is one of the strongest ultra trail runners in Austria. He arrived at TOR with confidence earned through experience and months of focused preparation. His approach was quiet, fearless, and grounded in trust in the process as he lined up for one of the most demanding races the sport has to offer.
Behind him were long months of disciplined work: 2,800 kilometers across all sports, nearly 180,000 meters of elevation gain, and more than 520 hours of training. Podium finishes at UT Snowdonia by UTMB®, Grossglockner Ultra-Trail, and Hochkönigman confirmed his form, while a second-place finish at PTL the year before proved he belonged among the best.
Somewhere deep into the race, that reality becomes impossible to ignore. “I felt during the race that I am coming with a knife to a gunfight.” shared Florian.
The course is relentless — endless climbs through the night, technical descents where fatigue blurs focus, and valleys that feel longer than entire races elsewhere. This is TOR X: 330 kilometers, 24,000 meters D+, where managing the mind becomes just as critical as managing the body.

TOR is not just about running. It is about strategy, restraint, and knowing when to push and when to survive. Nutrition, pacing, and short moments of rest — every small decision compounds over days. Mistakes echo for hours, while the right choices create space to continue.
Grasel goes on to say, “It is definitely a running race with a lot of strategy and things you have to consider and have in mind.”
In the end, Florian’s journey through TOR des Géants becomes what the race offers to those willing to face it honestly: not a pursuit of perfection, but a deeper confrontation with limits. Expectations fall away, doubts rise, and progress is measured not in kilometers, but in the confident determination to keep moving forward.
This is the essence of TOR — and of Florian Grasel’s adventure within it.
